I have checked these things out. But I do admit that the creation story was not significant in my reasoning for turning to God. I am sorry for people like Michael Shermer, who saw the deceiving nature within religion and concluded that there is no truth in it at all. He fails to take into account the one thing that the Bible speaks of over and over again - a deceiver. Deceivers deceive and so it stands to reason that people believe a lie. Michael believes a lie for that matter. Jesus predicted that there would be great deception. So I am not offended by the skepticism. I see that Michael Shermer sees the truths of Scripture as opposed to trying to make these things into scientific facts and build science from those ideas. That would be inconsistent with Scripture. The colorful slides do not win an argument. The truth does and I think we need to follow the truth wherever it leads. There is design in nature. Man has a conscience. These are the two proofs that God is real and His Word tells us that this is what makes man without excuse.

Gary- I just watched portions of this debate last night on DVD with my 2 adult sons. After it was over my son John's 1st comment was how civil Hugh & Fuz were as compared to other Christian debaters. I am almost embarassed that people have to see such behavior from Christians since I too am a Christian.
Lately I have watched two debates between Hugh Ross and Skeptics and it has been very interesting especially the Q&A. It seemed to me that in both debates most of the questions were directed at Hugh and fewer questions at the skeptic. Why do you think that is? Some questions were hostile and maybe that has to do with bad behavior of the others I mentioned above.
So, thanks for the review. I guess it has been over 2 years ago that you wrote this. I hope things have gone well with since then and those close to you.
