Dr Shermer:

I also wonder if you have made any commentary on the subject of Dr Steven Greer. I have recently been the recipient of emails from a brother-in-law who is beginning to give his life over to the theories of this man (and many others) and frankly it makes me nervous for my sister and her children. He has begun his own blog, taketheredpillmorpheus.com and is beginning to delve deeply into the fabric of what I consider delusional/magical/wishful thinking.

Any wisdom you could share with me or more specifically, with his blog would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

After stumbling upon Disclosure, I came straight here today wondering the same thing as D. Hughes. I find it odd that something as high profile as this seemingly hasn't been debated in Skeptic.

Thanks

Michael, the acceptance of Godel's proof reminds me of other things that you have written on the topic of absolutes. The need for perfection and absolutes seems to have played a role in many tragedies. The book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Pirsig describes a fictional dive into insanity brought about by the search for the meaninf of quality. I can't help but contrast that with your discovery of critical thinking through attempting to be the best bicyclist you could be (at least that's the way NPR's Prairie Home Companion described your discovery). We are all fortunate that you did not succumb to the easily acquired superstitions related to sports.
