Skeptic: Promoting Science and Critical Thinking
GEORGE HRAB is a musician, songwriter, the host and producer of the not-necessarily-safe-for-work Geologic Podcast — and, he jokes, “a vigilant defender of the theory of gravity.”
His music is known for its unusual combination of catchy riffs, humor, and themes of science, skepticism, and humanist reflection. How did this happen? “Michael Shermer’s Why People Believe Weird Things had a profound impact on me,” George recalls. “It made me realize that I’d always been a skeptic.”
George was the first musical artist to agree to provide a song (the popular anthem “Skeptic”) for the “Skeptics Mix Tape 2009,” a science communication project sharing selected of songs of science and skepticism — completely free! These MP3 files remain available for download for non-commercial use at home or in your classroom.
Similarly, George provided the theme song “Far” for the International Year of Astronomy’s 365 Days of Astronomy podcast. (Watch the video on YouTube.)
